I'm NOT complaining....

July 31st, 2007 at 01:18 am

Home ownership is great. Even though i've been working almost 14 hour days, in order to move out and clean my apt in time as well as refinish my floors in my house. Aside from of course the greater financial responsibilities and maintenance and repairs, I only have ONE semi-complaint at this point.

The area we're moving away from is Hip, Young, and Happening. The area we moved into is how can I put it nicely.... Traditional, Suburban, and the only things remotely related to "Hip" are the lots of Seniors all over our block that have bad hips!
Tadum-dum! I know corny as hell, but TRUE.

Having lots of seniors in your neighborhood can be a great thing. Make friends with them - if they are home during the day, they will all keep an eye on your house. Trust me - I have several relatives in their 80's and they always know what is going on in their neighborhood and would call the police in an instant if something did not look right. They can be your best security system - way better than an overpriced alarm system!

Agreed. I see what you are saying. But mbkonef brings up a positive side. Our neighborhood has a lot of retirees and doesn't have much of a daytime burglary problem since there are always so many people home and outside, etc. When we lived in our condo the place was a ghost town from 8-5 and really freaked me out security-wise.

Also, you can be sure it will be QUIET, not rowdy.

I agree. Our "hood" has more seniors than juniors and we NEVER have a crime problem here. There are more Neighborhood Watch signs than Beware of Dog signs. My neighbors are much appreciated.
